We had English "crackers" to bring in the new year. I had never seen them before but you pull on both sides, resulting in a small pop and opening up the inside pod. Inside is a joke or two, a paper party hat and some kind of toy (our crackers contained flashlights, rulers and magic tricks). Pretty cool.
