It's been more than a month since Mammoth Mountain got measureable natural snow (the snow machines are busy keeping the groomed runs at the ski resort open). This side of the mountain was mostly dry on New Year's Eve, 2011, and shows two extreme runs that are outside the resort boundaries. One just to the left of center is a narrow tunnel that the more daring skiers run through. On the far right is a narrow slit that no doubt creates great thrills -- for those skiers who make it through.
