The Twins did a nice job in integrating history into their new ballpark. The Gold Glove, which honors the Twins’ winners of Gold Glove awards for superior fielding, is a great place for people to sit for a snapshot. It’s also placed 502 feet from home plate, the distance of famed Twins’ slugger Harmon Killebrew’s longest homer. And in the background is a wall of 50,000 baseball-card-sized pieces of metal all stitched together like a quilt. When the wind blows, the “cards” flutter, creating a strange visual effect, almost like wisps of smoke blowing through the air.
