A cohort graciously gave us a week's stay at his luxury timeshare hotel in Scottsdale, Ariz., and we made the most of it on short notice. Scottsdale is blistering hot this time of year -- closer to 110 degrees every day than 100 -- but when you're in a nice room and have access to great pools, the heat doesn't seem so intense.
Thanks, Brad, for the wonderful gift. We needed an escape of sorts.
