The frozen lake had lots of cracks but was sturdy. The ice was at least 1 foot deep in most places. I fell on my knees once while skating, and the ice felt firm when I hit. One cool thing about the frozen lake was the weird sounds we heard as air pockets bounced off solid objects underneath the ice. At first, we thought it was someone playing techno on their stereo. Then we figured out the slight cracking of ice was the ice settling, triggering these weird sounds that reminded me of "Star Wars" weapons noises. This is what it sounds like.
