Project Glass: A toy and a lifesaver?

Google has released its first official preview of "Project Glass," aka Google Glasses. In 2:30, Google envisions a world in which its Bluetooth-enabled glasses help a person navigate life through Android-powered visual cues and tips. 

It's all a bit too geeky for me, but props to Google for continuing to push the technology envelope. Perhaps Project Glass has a future not just as a high-tech toy but also in helping people with visual disabilities to improve their lives. 

Inevitably, a spoof of Project Glass appeared online (probably within minutes). There's more than a fair amount of truth in the one below.

Think Quarterly: The Speed Issue

Google's latest edition of Think Quarterly is yet another great read, smartly tackling the "acceleration of everything – what is changing and how it works, why it matters and when it doesn’t."

In our 4G, hypernet world of 24-7 media, speed is relative. Time is rapidly becoming a huge variable in that connected world, both in terms of currency and actuality. So while we feel pressure to keep pace, remember that those who step back and analyze the tides have better odds of surviving the wave.
